About Hugo Garrido
Hugo Garrido is a distinguished Guatemalan pianist, educator, and composer dedicated to artistic excellence. He earned his Bachelor’s degrees in Arts and Music Education from Universidad del Valle de Guatemala, following rigorous training at the National Conservatory of Music “Germán Alcántara.” Currently, he shares his expertise as a professor at the Centro de Formación Integral de Guatemala (CEFIGUA), balancing a vibrant career of performance and instruction.
Hugo has earned international recognition for his artistry, securing top prizes and performance honors across major festivals in Cuba, Mexico, and Guatemala for his mastery of classical and Latin American repertoire. Notable accolades include multiple awards for best interpretation and the prestigious Young Performer Award from Iberorquestas Juveniles. Currently, he is focused on composing immersive, minimalist solo piano music that explores deep, atmospheric textures.
